2015 Summer Blockbuster Sermon Series

EASTGATE CHRISTIAN CHURCH OFFERS SERMONS ON 2015 SUMMER MOVIES

Eastgate Christian Church will offer a special sermon series on religious themes in several of this summer’s movies in the coming months.  The “Summer Blockbuster Sermon Series” will consider such issues as the nature of love, modern examples of idolatry, and how humans can change the world around them.

For the seventh year, Rev. Joshua Patty, the senior minister of Eastgate Christian Church, will encourage people to look deeper at the big-budget movies that millions have attended during the summer months.

On Sunday, June 19, Rev. Patty will explore issues of artificial intelligence and idolatry in this summer’s sequel, “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” drawing on Romans 1.

Other films that will be considered this summer are “Tomorrowland,” “Aloha,” “Inside Out,” before a special October sermon marking the 30th anniversary of the classic “Back to the Future.”
