Holy Week 2013

Eastgate Christian Church will hold several special Holy Week services from Palm Sunday, March 24 through Easter, March 31. The theme of this year’s services, “A Time of Testing and Trial,” focuses on the meaning of the Israelites’ wilderness experience for today’s Christians.

Palm Sunday, March 24 at 10:25 am
Worship service with procession of palms, special music, and Holy Communion.
The sermon will be “A Vision from the Mountaintop,” which will consider God’s promises for the future, even in dark times.

Maundy Thursday, March 28 at 7:00 pm
A service of Holy Communion and Tenebrae, with a meditation, “Keeping Watch,” special music and traditional readings.

Good Friday, March 29 at 7:00 pm
A service about “The Seven Last Words of Christ,” with short reflections on Jesus’ seven statements from the cross.

Holy Saturday, March 30 at 8:00 pm
The Great Vigil of Easter,
featuring a meditation, “Through the Valley, Full of Bones,” special music, traditional scripture readings, and Holy Communion.

Easter Sunday, March 31 at 10:25 am
Easter worship service with special music and Holy Communion.
The sermon will be “And I Saw a New Jerusalem,” which will consider how Christ’s resurrection points toward the promise of heaven.
