Please join us for worship on Sunday as Pastor Whitmer brings us the message, "Facing Reality". 

Jesus teaches his followers (including all of us today) that while we tell of Jesus’ wonderful teachings, we must face the reality of the cost of changing the world. Jesus taught us of God’s love and compassion for all. He even demonstrated it as he healed the sick and resurrected the dead.  

Like the rough times Jesus and his followers lived in, we too live in times where there is suffering from illness, emotional and economic injustice, and the resulting death, strife, and hunger that go with it. But to combat this reality, we must face it, not hide from it.

With God’s strength and love, we can also experience resurrection.

Scripture focus is Matthew 16:21-28.  This passage is about Jesus foretelling his death and resurrection, challenging his disciples to deny themselves and follow him, emphasizing the cost of discipleship while promising eternal life for those who are faithful to him till the end. 

Join us in worship this Sunday at Eastgate Christian Church as we face the realities of sharing in Jesus' sacrifice of love and resurrection.
