Director of Music, Eastgate Christian Church, Independence, MO
Eastgate Christian Church in Independence, MO is seeking a Director of Music for Sunday morning worship and occasional special services. This is a part-time salary position. The ideal candidate can sight read and play music on a piano and possibly also on an organ. Additional instruments are a plus. They will also lead the congregation & choir in singing. This person is under the direction of the Senior Minister and will work closely with those charged with planning and coordinating worship.
1. The Director of Music is responsible for accompanying the congregation both instrumentally and vocally during Sunday worship services and special worship services, as scheduled.
2. The Director of Music is responsible for directing the Choir, preparing them through any necessary rehearsals and workshops for the fall season (including Advent/Christmas) and spring season (including Lent/Easter), as scheduled.
3. The Director of Music will coordinate worship service music for the services and especially during times of offering and communion.
4. The Director of Music agrees to purchase music and related supplies, as budgeted by the Eastgate Board and as approved by the Senior Minister or the Chair of Seeking God Ministry. This includes (but not limited to) any licensing agencies.
5. The Director of Music will select most music used, keep track of it for in-person worship and streaming as well as report them to the appropriate licensing agencies.
6. The Director of Music is encouraged to attend monthly Seeking God worship team meetings to report upcoming music &/or needs of this area of ministry. They will meet with the Senior Minister regularly outside of these monthly meetings.
7. The Director of Music will perform all other duties as directed by the Senior Minister or Board Chairman.
The Director of Music position averages 10 to 15 hours per week, many of which are considered flex time &/or remote. This person is expected to spend the time necessary to develop and prepare music programming at Eastgate, as described above.
