Seeking God, Sharing Christ, Serving Others
Eastgate has several groups that help people of all ages to develop their faith, learn about the Bible, and strengthen their prayer lives. In this way, we can deepen our spiritual relationships with God.
Eastgate offers Sunday School classes that meet at 9:15 each week before the Sunday worship service. Currently there are no in-person classes due to the pandemic. We look forward to a time when we will resume this opportunity.
Eastgate holds a Bible Study every other week, unless otherwise posted. Typically, the class meets on Thursday mornings at 10:00AM.
Eastgate's Prayer Partners Group is a Pray at Home event during the pandemic on the 2nd Saturday morning monthly at 9:00AM. Everyone can be a Prayer Partner. All you need to do is set this time to pray for all those listed on the Prayer List, lifting up all the names aloud. Also pray for those you are concerned about that are not on the list. Pray the Covid-19 pandemic will lessen and the vaccines will make a difference. Pray for our country that we find unity and receive God’s Blessings. Pray for those who are looking to find a church home that they will find their way to us.
These groups are planned and coordinated by Eastgate's Seeking God Ministry, which also plans and shapes Eastgate's worship services.
Eastgate has groups that gather to spend time with each other, deepening their relationships and caring for each other.
Eastgate's Disciples Women Ministry meets monthly on the first Wednesday at 10:00AM. The purpose of Disciples Women’s Ministry is “To provide opportunity for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ.”
They have time for study and service. They also organize service opportunities and social events for the entire congregation. In addition, many are active in women's ministry beyond the congregation through women's ministry shared with other Disciples congregations in the Greater Kansas City region and ecumenically with the local chapter of Church Women United.
Game Day has been cancelled due to a lack of participation. If you are interested in attending this event, please let the church office know!
These groups are guided by Eastgate's Sharing Christ Ministry, which looks for opportunities and activities that build relationships in the congregation, including all-congregation meals and celebrations and efforts to support people during challenging times in their lives.
Eastgate has groups that meet regularly to accomplish service projects that seek to improve lives of others in our community and beyond.
Eastgate has a Prayer Shawl Ministry that knits and crochets items that people can wrap around them to feel warmth and embrace while they pray. Items are blessed during worship services before being given.
Eastgate has a team that turns used plastic grocery bags into “plarn.” This plastic yarn can then be woven into waterproof sleeping mats for homeless individuals.
As noted above, a key part of Disciples Women Ministry is service. One of their on-going projects is the making of pressure pillows that are given to patients in local hospitals.
These groups are coordinated by Eastgate's Serving Others Ministry. Learn more about Eastgate's extensive service projects and partnerships here.
Eastgate has groups that assist with important parts of the weekly worship service.
The Eastgate Choir provides musical selections during many worship services. They are not currently meeting for practices. Please let the office know if you are interested in solo or small group singing in worship.
Our minister offers a Children's Moment in worship service when young children are in attendance and willing to come forward for this short lesson. Seeking God also has bags available for use by children to help them pass the time in our worship services. These include crayons, coloring pages, and other activities for use in the pews. Please feel free to take a bag when you arrive and return it before leaving.
A small team volunteers to prepare and use audio/visual technology to enhance the worship service, including projecting song lyrics, images, and occasional videos. This also includes audio amplification through microphones and special earpieces for those with hearing difficulties. These volunteers also record and upload our weekly worship services to make them available to those who worship virtually with us.
Property Ministry—This ministry is responsible for the care, repair and protection of the congregation’s property, including supervision and maintenance of all buildings, grounds, and equipment not otherwise assigned to another ministry. They also provide and oversee the custodial work and coordinate volunteer work at the church.
